Galle is the most desired destination in the South and can be reached within few hours using the Southern Expressway. The city is remarkable for its remains from the Dutch colonial period. The Museum being the oldest building built in the 1700s or before and the Dutch Reform Church which was built in 1752. The Dutch Fort is a historical, archaeological and architectural monument which still stands a polished appearance. Surrounding the city is a collection of tourist hotspots; Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, Bentota and all the other southernmost coastal areas.
